Hi,
I would like to have a big mirror in the bathroom from wall to wall, however the builder says he needs a strip of tiles along the edges because the walls on the sides aren't flat. Is this correct? Is there anything that could be done to flatten the walls so I can have the mirror the way I want?
Thanks,
Maria

the wall could be boarded.

or a smaller mirror could be used, spaced out off the wall with spacers that compensate for the irregularity.

How unflat is it?

I think I'd be looking at carefully spacing the mirror out......you can get some idea of the thickness of the spacers required by using a straight edge instead of the mirror itself.....a long spirit level maybe?
It's not feasible to flatten the wall, but with care a timber frame could be made and suitably planed to fit the wall true, and secure the mirror to that.
John :)
