Hi,
I've got an external I beam (I know it is the wrong beam but was specced like that by structural engineer) that is supposed to sit in line with internal. The problem is the bearings would have to be cut to accommodate 30mm drop to have it inline with internal. How would you go about that?
Attached is the current opening that suffers from bowed brickwork.
As I understand I should be cutting 1/3 of the bricks each side to drop the I beam to same height as internal lintel.
How I should then make it look good once the beam is in place at each ends?
Is it about cutting brick slips and fixing them in place but then how would I make it look neat?
Any advise appreciated.
