Hi,

I am intending to floor the loft in my garage to use for storage. I have targeted 600 x 2400 x 18 mm P5 chipboard T&G panels at B&Q for a fiver each. The garage loft has 3 x 2 (inch) joists at around 450 mm centres (it's too dark and wet to check at the mo).

I shall lay the boards across the joists of course, but do the board ends have to meet over a joist, as floorboards do, or is it standard practice just to lay the boards as they come and trust that the T&G supports the ends? Yes, I shall stagger the joins. I have also heard of the T&G's being glued with PVA. Is this beneficial? I would rather have a solid job done than save a few quid, even though it is in the graage. Thanks.

Rgds.

I hate unsupported joins, even if glued. Perhaps you could bodge a few noggins across to support the joins?
