2 questions...

How do I make a solid wooden block say 10cm x 20cm?
I've seen on youtube...
Glue together a few pieces...
Clamp together for 12 hours or something...

But then how do I get flat even edges all around?

And... if I want to cut a groove that is at an angle...
Say 0.5cm wide and 0.5cm deep... but needs to be at an angle..
The wood piece itself would be say 10cm x 4cm.
How would I do this?

Thanks.

could you make it from say 4x1 rough sawn and 6x1 rough sawn in a box shape then sand to size ??
what exactly is it for ??

@big-all it's for a monitor stand.
it's nothing but a big chunk of wood :)
i'm going to sell these online
but wanted to make a few examples myself first before finding someone to make for me

saw?
DOH! why didnt i think of that. lol. :)
i've got a jigsaw actually...
i was thinking for starting with floor boards

trouble with planed timber is its between 3 and 8mm smaller than the inch size so ex 6x1" comes out around 21x143mm 4x1" at around 21x95mm so iff you can live with 185mm x95mm go for ex 6x1" or 210mm x95 would be 7x1"[168mm ish]

@foxhole yes, they exist :)
but you cant buy chunks of wood made for monitor stands

i've got 2 big chunky ones i use for my monitors
they actually have an apple shape hole carved out right through the middle
looks sooo cool. i bought from matalan 2 years ago in xmas sales

the thing is... it's not for the rest of the world
it's just for a few lunatics like me ;)
