Hi all,

We have a Victorian semi with nice cornices around the ceilings. Have just put in the stud-work for an ensuite in the corner of our bedroom

Does anyone have any experience on how to produce matching cornice around the new walls ? Or any useful links on companies that may do this. Or companies that stock a range of victorian styles that may match

Thanks in advance

Steve

Ive watched my cousin do it he was a master plasterer - retired now.
He made a profile out of thin metal and am pretty sure he used special plaster - may have been plaster of paris - it was definitely white. Even made the little leaves and grapes when he was finished you'd think it had been there a 100 years. It took nearly two days to do one bay window and I imagine it would cost a fortune

It was without a doubt the most skillful thing I've ever seen.

Sorry I can't be more help

cut into the original and take a profile, contact any fibrous workshop and they will run you as many lengths as you require.

cheers chaps - i suspect that getting a chunk out intact may be interesting but thanks for the advice

will they make internal/external corners as well or should i practise my 45 degree cuts

you dont need to take a chunk out just cut into it or use a piece of card to find the profile and you will have to practice your 45s ;)
