I've finally finished scrubbing two rooms free of rancid old distemper and now I'm ready to paint them. Whenever I've painted a room before I've just been slapping on paint over paint, but I'd like to do this properly, so I was wondering what the best process is in terms of sealants, primers etc.
The walls are lime plaster which looks to be in excellent shape from a distance of a metre, but when you get up close there are a lot of extremely fine cracks - fine enough that if you ran your finger over them with your eyes closed you wouldn't know they were there. Will these be OK to paint over? The thought of trying to fix them all makes me a bit queasy!
