How to remove annoying java shield icon

I've disabled Java on my W7 PC ( I'd like to eliminate it entirely, if possible),
but i still have the Java icon throbbing away on the bottom left task bar.
How do i remove this annoying item?

thank you for the reply,

I have tried that link in the past, and quite a few more, but no luck.
That link tells me that Java has been disabled ( which i attempted some days ago ), but it obviously hasn't been disabled enough.

Thanks for the suggestion.
In fact, i've taken the PC to the fixit guy and all is now well - until i try a few more experiments by myself.
