I am trying to remove ceramic floor tiles from my dining room. These are large tiles about 8"x8". I do not care about preserving them at all because they are ugly. I need to know the best way to get them off the floor. There is a wire mesh under them that i understand to be common under ceramic tiling. I have been advised to remove them using a crowbar and hammer, but this is taking approximately 5-10 minutes per tile! This method is far too slow and tedious. Perhaps a sledge hammer? Please help.

An SDS drill with rotary lock coupled with a wide chisel bit will work wonders.
