Hi all,

I have a small radiator that had been painted with about 2 coats of gloss ontop of each other by the other person that lived in our flat and now its starting to flake off and i want to remove the paint and repaint again with gloss. Is there any best way to remove paint from radiators

To save time , you could just replace the radiator.

Or use a fine grade wet and dry paper to give it a good 'key'.

Well the radaitor is at the paint removers. £10 to get it done which i think is not bad.

What prime coat paint would i need once i get it back before painting again

Chris

You need a metal primer then undercoat and top coat.

It'll cost more than a new radiator.

Why don't you listen to us?

Hi There,

I have to use the orignal radatior or the council will know on there next checkup. If we change stuff without them knowing then they will not repair any items we fit ourselfs

Chris

Oh OK. You need a dedicated metal primer otherwise it will peel.

Just had a look around the net for primers and paint and was not sure if these are the correct types to use but found thes.

International White Quick Drying Radiator Primer 250ml - £6.12

Rustins Gloss Finish White Radiator Enamel Paint 250ml - £5.04

Not sure if the above is any good so could anyone advise
