someone has asked me if i can retreat their wooden worktop, they oiled it for years ,then someone varnished it ,it has now bubbled and flaked . What is the best way of removing the varnish and getting a nice even finish again. thanks.
Good news is it shouldn't be that hard to remove as it will only have taken very lightly if it all and in patches. If its in good nick and pretty flat a not super sharp cabinet scraper would probably lift it right off.
Of course depeding on its condition that could make a right hash of it and leave it needing sanded. Your obviously better off not using chemicals on a worktop in use but may have too.
