Hi all, I want to take a row of tiles out of my roof and replace, the tiles that are on are made of slate and have 2 holes 3/4 the way up the tile which are held down by nails, i have made a tool to rip out the nails but i am unsure on how to securely replace the tiles back onto the battens! i know there is a way of doing this with a sort of hook shape item to fit over the battens which goes through the tile holes. can any one shed some light on how o replace them correctly Thanks in advance ian

technically speaking you may be correct, I don't know, I have only occaisionaly come across copper wire repairs and every roofer I know uses lead.
What are the reasons for not using lead, i have see lead tingle repairs that have out lived the nails used to fix them.
Apart from aesthetics I see no reason why lead shouldn't be used.
