Hello

I've made a start on some steps in my garden. They're going to be set into a bank on building blocks, faced with decking and have railings based on fence posts, which are concreted in.

I have started to dig into the bank where a platform is to go, where steps turn by 90 degrees to go up behind the garage.

This has left a bank of earth nearly 1m high, I was wondering what my options are regarding retaining this?

Do I build a wall of blocks, tieing them into the earth somehow?
Dig further back and build a rough and ready wall from the boulders I have?
Are there any special rods or metal work that I can drill into the earth?

I'd hate to have a garden landslide!

you need to do something as it will gradual erode. A simple sleeper wall might be a good option as it will match in well with the decking but if you have stone available there are few things better than a nice random stone wall which when built on a 70degish lie back doesn't need to well engineered.
