How to schedule DHW production on a Vaillant system boiler without using EBUS ?

Hello everyone,

I have just installed a Netatmo intelligent modulating thermostat on my Vaillant EcotecPlus VC 306/5 system boiler fitted with an HIV hot water tank. The connection between the Netatmo relay and the boiler is via the VR33 interface. No thermostat is connected to the EBUS.
The Netatmo thermostat regulates the central heating very well, but I have a problem with the domestic hot water. More specifically, the Netatmo system doesn't recognise the presence of the hot water tank. I can only set the hot water temperature from the app, but I can't set a schedule for hot water production. In fact, the boiler manages the hot water permanently, the tap symbol is permanently displayed on the boiler control screen. This means that the boiler produces hot water as soon as the temperature in the tank drops too low. This mode consumes a lot of gas and doesn't suit my use at all. I only need hot water in the morning. With my old Calormatic 370 thermostat, I could easily schedule the production of hot water for 1 hour in the morning, which suited it perfectly. I'd like to find a way of scheduling hot water again without interfering with the Netatmo thermostat.
All my attempts to connect to the EBUS port have failed. As soon as the old Calormatic 370 thermostat is connected to the EBUS (or to the front of the boiler), the Netatmo thermostat is completely ignored.
I read somewhere that it's possible to install a wifi-controlled relay on the hot water tank temperature sensor. When the sensor is disconnected, the domestic hot water function switches off automatically (for safety reasons). When you plug it back in, the hot water function is activated. I've bought a Shelly plus 1 Wifi relay that could allow me to schedule the opening/closing of the sensor, but before I get started I'm calling on the community to find out if there's a more intelligent way of doing this.

AFAIK what you're trying to do can only be done with Vaillant's own proprietary controls.

Happy to be corrected if anyone has achieved this using third party kit.

Thanks for your reply. If scheduling is not feasible then is there a simple way to trigger remotely the charging of the cylinder without using EBUS ?

The vr33 is an opentherm module by searching the internet. Sounds like you need to use standard on/off or revert back to ebus.
