I've had a look onthe internet and have found alot of info on this, but I just want to check before I proceed...

I blive that I:

1. Use joint filler to fill any gaps in the joints
2. Put self adhesive plasterbaord tape over teh joints
3. Allow this to dry then it's ready to PVA seal and plaster

THere was some confusion as people seem to put plasterboard cement over the tae, but I believe this is just for drywalling when you don't plaster over the board. Is this correct?

Thanks,
Sarah

You dont need to actually fill the gap between the boards with filler. Use the Tape to cover the joint and then plaster staright over. No need for PVA on plaster board.

Not normally but it rather depends how big a gap has been left in the boards! Who put them up?

No need for PVA on plaster board.
Again, not normally unless the boards have been up for a while or are very dusty; it won’t do any harm though & will actually give a novice plasterer a bit more time. Who’s going to skim it? I would advise you talk to your plasterer before doing any prep work; many, including myself, prefer to do their own; it doest take long & wont (shouldn’t) affect the price your charged. If you’re going to attempt to skim it yourself, be warned that unless you understand how plaster behaves & have had at least a little practice, your 1st attempt will most likely end in disaster

Richard, in the world of Forums there is this word called 'Banter' , Google it  ;) ;) ;)

Banter is good & I will freely accept it from people I know & respect; I make mistakes like everyone but don’t take kindly to unwarranted criticism, nit picking or folks who appear to be trying to proove something. I’m totally professional in whatever I do & added additional comment, not criticism, to the original response to this post; I don’t appreciate unnecessary, smart arse comments.

Wots it got to do with you anyway  Believe me you don't need to tell me about forum etiquette & I don't need to Google “Banter” either. You’re obviously very knowledgeable but rather than add value, you continue to direct smart arse "pops" at me. What are you trying to proove, do you see yourself as my personal referee or something :?: Got my suspicions about your origin,   ;) ;) ;) ;)

Is that enough icons for you

Woah, where did that come from

Something tells me that has been building up for a little while.

Go back and read any thread that I have posted on and you might well see that just because I do things differently to you, doesn't mean I'm having a pop at you. Would you prefer it if I agreed with everything you said?

What is my Origin ? I don't get this, I seem to have inadvertently pressed your button. Have you ever thought you might be a little over sensitive?

You know full well.

Something tells me that has been building up for a little while.
Over a few posts yes but not "for a while"; after all you only joined the forum a month ago & I wasn’t here for ½ that time; I’ve even posted advice on one of your threads but you know that!

Not at all, it’s the way you’ve done it. Why be a smart arse, just add value to the OP's post; which, as a plasterer, I was doing when you, again, stuck your smart arse oar in.

What is my Origin ? I don't get this,
Many multiple identities appear on here from time to time with no other purpose than to create argument & "liven it all up". For as long as I've been on here, I've generally avoided getting involved but, for some reason, it appears I didn’t succeed this time. You’re not, perchance, the same “Bathstyle” banned from another well known forum? Or is it pure coincidence.

I seem to have inadvertently pressed your button. Have you ever thought you might be a little over sensitive?
Yes you have pressed several “wrong buttons” but I don’t think it was inadvertent; & yes, I can be sensitive if I think someone’s taking the ****. OP's post on the specialist forums because they want facts & good advice not irrelevant banter; if you want banter, stick to the General Discussion forum.

Maybe you should get a friend to view my posts, your judgment is clouded

Just relax man, it is a Forum, I treat them lightheartedly, this is not real life. I have never been wound up on a forum and never will.

If I feel you have given incorrect advice I will say so, if you don't like it.....well, put me on ignore, to coin a popular phrase by internet gimps 'simples'

I bet you are a Moderator on another forum, this is why you're behaving like this.

Anyway, we've polluted this thread enough, let's call it a day, it's getting a tad embarrassing for us both

The regulars on here will know my posts can be “factual” but that’s mostly what people want if they have questions; but I'm not nit picky or a smart arse & my judgment is definitely not clouded.

I’m relaxed  but I don’t see posts on Technical forums as being “lighthearted” or “not real life”; to the majority who post for advice, their problems are very real & important.

If my advice is incorrect I'll accept facts; but so far all you’ve hit me with is smart arse smileies, opinionated criticism & ambiguous argument some of which appears to be based purely on technical specification rather than practical experience; maybe your trying to prove a point I don’t know.

I could never see the point of an ignore button!

I’m slightly flattered but no, never.

I agree; it’s got nothing whatsoever to do with taping plasterboard but at least you now know where I am.

Oh, you didn’t answer my "origin" question though did you? ;)

Sorry i even bother to answer the blinkin post now !!!!! Which was the same answer only shorter.
