How to transport a 4.2m long, 30cm by 30cm roller garage door?

I am considering buying a second hand Steel Roller garage door off ebay.

Issue is that it is 4.2m long.
The good thing is that with it being a roller door its cross section is quite small (say 30cm by 30cm)

How would you transport a 4.2m long, 30cm by 30cm garage door?

I think that a long section sticking out of the back of Estate car will be bad?

Could I do this with a hired SWB Transit van?

Or what could I use that won't get me stopped for 60miles by the police?

Yep that just fits. Bit worried might still have to have door open.

You might get away with putting it corner to corner or diagonal to diagonal , just take some straps and pray!

Yes, and it does look at lot safer than putting it on rood of my car.
Will now phone up hire shops and see if anyone local has a 'L4'

you can poke out the back 2 metres with suitable warning on the end.

I can get 3 metres inside my mondeo so you might do it in your estate -risk of breaking the back or front screen unless properly fixed

you need to use the fixing points in the car and ratchet straps -poss you need some plywood to protect the roller from getting crushed. you must get it fixed rigid or itll work lose (DAMHIK)

Did consider a car as big estate can take 3m without issue - and it has anchor points.
But do feel that >1.2m out the back might look a bit obvious.
And if front seat in place will have a strange angle on it.

Just checked my local and their Peugeot boxer is 3.5m.

Yes a 'man with a man' would work, one at each end, but a long walk.

Have tried a couple of 'Man with a Van', but around here all seem to have SWB.
Bu as an idea might try from where I am thinking of buying the door.

Transit pick-up?
North gate hire list load lengths and a vw sprinter would do it

Bear in mind that some transits/ others have a trap below the passenger seat that allows longer poles/pipes. But you'd need to check dimensions

Jesus..... passenger seat fully reclined, back seat folded down, lie it in so it sticks about 1.5m out the back, blankets over it where the boot lid will hit, tie boot lid down and tie a hi-viz vest to the end. Job done. I’ve transported some crazier **** than that before!
