To do this, you hold down "ALT" whilst you tap "0178" on the numeric keypad. You need to have "num lock" on. It MUST be on the numeric keypad for some reason.
If you look at "character map" in Windows (generally under "Accessories/ System Tools" on your start menu) you can see all the different characters and codes required.
Unfortunately there is no superscript for the minus sign, so you can't write "something per something" in correct notation. I thought I had it cracked with some Hebrew character, but then the "minus sign" ends up on the wrong side e.g. ms־¹
