How to waterproof over chalk paint

What is best to waterproof over chalk paint? I have converted an old set of drawers into a sink vanity & painted with chalk spray paint. But now need some water resistance to be able to put toothbrush holder/soap etc on there & wipe it clean.

When I first researched this, yacht gloss was recommended - however I've tried that on a small area & it is yellow.

Any recommmendations please?

Perhaps something like a clear spray on lacquer?

Water based varnish will fail before long.
