I've got a small lean-to-shed that I am building on the side of the house. I am in the process of completing the stud walls but you can see here, there is a soil pipe going through the side.

The studwork will be lined with 5.5mm plywood, breathable membrane and then featheredge boards. I will cut these as tight as I can around this pipe.

Are there any other measures I should adopt to make sure that I don't have water seeping through here?

Thanks in advance.

Expanding foam is waterproof but the UV light will turn it orange and make it brittle. If you paint it, it should last years.

Can I use one of these:

Also, should this be situated on top of the final layer, featheredge boards? Presumably used in conjunction with sealant of some kind?

Yes I would think so. But it is just decorative as you suspect.
oh okay, I can use this for decorative purposes and help hide any cut imperfections. How do I protect this entry for any water ingress? As mentioned, I do have the 3 layers as part of this construction. Thanks for your help.

You may have been better overhanging the roof a bit to cover the hole, then you only have to worry about a little bit of water running along the outside of the pipe.

There is an overhang of 5cm on this side but as you suggest, there's still a chance that rain hits it in that direction or trickles along the surface and into the shed. Looking to protect against that.

You can add a bit of timber to extend the roof more, then add that split collar with the split at the top over your cladding.

How much more do I need to extend it by? I feel that I still need something more robust to prevent - even the occasional - water ingress?
