Would the switch shown be able to be wired to the connections shown in the images or would I need a different type of switch? (There are 3 wires coming from each cable)

You really need a switch that isn't broken.
It looks like the COM terminal might come away when you screw it.

Then:

Connect the blacks together.
Connect the earth wires together.
One red in COM, one red in L1 - it doesn't matter which.

Sorry, how do you mean with connecting the black and earth wires together?

well...

AFTER YOU BUY A NEW ONE that isn't broken

It seems a lot more secure than it looks in the picture but will double check first. Also thank you for the update that's much clearer now

Regardless of how secure it appears it is broken and very likely the brass contact has moved, in which case it may not be making proper contact, in which case it may run hot or be arcing.
Would I attempt to use that?

not a chance

You seem to have more experience than me so I will be on the safe side and take your advice in getting a new switch first. Then wire it as shown. Thank you

You have very little wire to work with (one Black [Neutral] conductor is broken off - short - and that cable/conductor will need stripping and a [new] connector.)
(I suggest using a Wago 221-412.
A Wago 221-412 could also be used to join the Earth Conductors, if they are too short to reach the insulated Earth screw connector in any new Plastic switch. These Earth Conductors should be "sleeved" in Green/Yellow tubing - Not Black.)

To what are you going to screw any new Pull Switch?

I suggest that you may need to "post"
a strip if 6 mm plywood, about half the width of the hole in the ceiling metal and twice as long
and
secure this to the (above) "underside" of the metal ceiling using (say) silicone as a "glue".

You can then use this plywood to screw the Pull Switch to the "ceiling" and have the conductors come around it.

The practicality of this depends upon the switch actually used.
