Hello,

Hoping some kind soul here can point me in the right direction for my vision to create a new bathroom.

I've fallen in love with the hidden cistern design below.

It's not so much the toilet itself, but the recessed shelf and spotlight effect, together with the back-to-wall hidden design.

My question is; what is the easiest way for me to create this look? I've been looking around the net and it seems there isn't a ready made cabinet available. If i provided this picture to a carpenter, is this a clear enough image to recreate in my bathroom? I can't see any access panels in this picture, but thats probably something i need to think about also. How much should i pay for something like this?

Thanking you in advance for any help.

I've just been doing a bath end panel in a similar vein today - oak veneered MDF panel with t6hick solid lippings and an inset shelf unit beneath the bath end (good use of space, too). The cut-out was made by plunging-in a jigsaw then a box with a back was made-up to fit in the rectangular hole. When installed the box will be screwed into four battens secured around the rear of the opening, thus:

whilst the front is basically like this

It would be relatively simple to adapt the idea to have a light box built-into the top of the box.

A lot will depend on how you are going to finish the walls, for a timber finish then veneered MR MDF as scrit says will be the best option.

If you are going to paint or tile then make it up with studwork and then cover with plasterboard make the bottom of the recess removabl efor access to the cistern. Have a look at this album for what can be done with studs & board. This is another one wher the original wall line (can be seen around window reveal) was extended out to hide the cistern, even the same pan and bidet as in your pic :D

Or just stud out the wall and make a simple "box" that fits into it like this shelf unit

you also need to plan access to the cistern for maintainance

the design you show dosn't seem to allow for easy maintainance!!!

your illuminated reccess would have to be around a foot above the cistern with either an access panel just above the flushing handle

or if you made the illuminated section removable it could be set in just above the cistern
