How would you seal this deep sink gap?

Hi. The sealant between the sink and the underside of the countertop died! How would you replace it? It's about an 8mm gap all the way round. On the left and right the cabinets form a sort of backing, but pretty far back! At the back there is no backing, just a black hole of mystery. I have some multipurpose silicone sealant.

Would you use backer rods for the sides? Can't use one at the back cos there IS no back! Photo included to illustrate. I'm currently thinking just to spooge a great glob of silicone all the way round, finger-tool it out and leave it at that, but any other ideas welcome.

Cheers ta!

You can get various sizes of white closed cell foam gap filling "pipe" from deco centres to act as a backer. That means you'd use less silicone. Get yourself a silicone finger to make a neat joint

Google "Fosse caulk saver"

Great, thanks, worked well!

I'm not typing "silicone finger" onto my work search engine though... Just in case!!
