Hi have just had load of door fitted and need to get these proctored with either Varnish, Stain or Osmo Oil,, i haven't a glue what to use, Would like to keep the door original looking, one or the door is in the bathroom

Instructions should be included with door , using oil sometimes invalidates guarantee.

Varnish? Real varnish is terrible stuff that crazes and cracks over time. Surely they mean lacquer. Oil is easy to apply and is readily recoatable but because oil finishes are often water permeable it isn't the best finish for a damp room like a bathroom IMHO. Technically stsins wont do much to protect wood, either, unless they are mixed with some form of protective lacquer. They also darken the timber. A clear lacquer, water based acrylic or polyurethane, will protect the surfaces better from moisture. These are sometimes referred to (incorrectly) as "varnish"
