Hope this is posted in the correct area.

My heating engineer has drilled massive holes through a ceiling joist of the 1st floor of a 2 storey townhouse to make way for new central heating pipes. He is still working on them.

I have attached pictures. Holes look much larger than necessary and I am worried about the structural integrity of the joist. Can any builders here tell me if I need to get these reinforced with steel plates or similar?
Thanks in advance.

That is probably the worst I have seen. Don't let him hack any more joists. You might need a new joist alongside as I think to much has been butchered

Your 'heating engineer ' don't appear to know much!
I would seriously question his ability.
Assuming joist drilled in correct area a 25mm hole in center of joist is normal for 22m pipework and holes spaced apart!

That looks disgusting. Are you sure it was a heating engineer and not a lumberjack????

OP - It's better if you start a new thread.
