Hi all,

I have had a problem with our CH for a while, we have an Ideal combi boiler in our flat and for some time a couple of the radiators were hot at the bottom but cold at the top, so I bled the radiators with the ch switched on (most of which had trapped air inside) and the boiler started to get progressively noisy (but for a short time the bleeding seemed to work). I have tightened up the bleed valve of each radiator (i bled one at a time) but i cant hear any water rushing to the radiators now as i did during and before bleeding them. I tried restarting the boiler just by turning the power off and on again, the HW works ok but not the CH...any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

sounds like you need to fill the system up via the filling loop.

1. Locate the filling loop, (usually a flexible hose with what looks like a washing machine tap at one or both ends and usualy by the boiler)

2. Turn the boiler off and open the tap or taps until the guage on the boiler reads between 1 and 1.5 bar and turn off.

3. Turn on and bleed all the radiators until water is released.

4. Repeat step 2 if pressure is lost until the radiators are full and the guage on the boiler reads between 1 and 1.5 bar.

5. Turn the boiler back on and turn on the heating.

With a bit of luck this should solve the problem.

if you bleed rads when heating is on you draw air in your system always do it when heating is off. :D
