I actually saw Philip Schofield jump a queue at Alton Towers in the late 80s. I went with a few friends and were queueing for a new ride, maybe Black Hole or something like that. Anyway, we'd been queueing for ages and then, unknown to us, Schofield turned up to officially open the ride for tv. They delayed the queue we were in for ages so he could do the necessary. When finished he was driven past along the side of our queue. Everyone waved at him as he passed except my mate who was peeved that Schofield had caused an already long wait to get much longer. He flicked the Vs at Schofield who called out "and you" when he saw the two fingered salute.
What stood out at the time was how squeaky and camp his voice was when he rebuked my friend. Now we know, perhaps the ride should be renamed The Brown Hole.
