Hi all

Is there a section where people can ask for a particular tradesmen to contact them for jobs? It would be great if I could put a post on saying something like "Sparky needed, Hampshire Area - PM Me!!!"

Your thoughts please...

You have given me an idea for a directory, think I'll call it Blue Pages (to match the forum pages) or something like that.

I dont see why it's a stupid idea at all, and asking if there is a sparky available in the Hampshire area isn't advertising. I didnt say...

"Sparky available, Hampshire Area" did I? No!

I'd rather speak to someone from the forums if I needed something doing, than trawl the Yellow Pages for cowboys!

Sod ya then! lol

Did it occur to you that some of the people on here may appear to know what they're talking about, but actually, when push comes to shove, they can't do it?
Be careful of the advice you are given on a forum and properly vet anyone on here you are thinking of employing. ;)

Good point, but naturally I wouldn't let someone with a username of "Bodgeitandleggit" come to do any work I had...

And if I do, id want a business card first at least.... :D

why stupid idea?

My name is not Joe-90

Like I said its a good idea in principal, but a stupid idea. think about it.

Ok then cards on the table. (i am going to make the requiremnts up)

Hi every one i need a garden "make over" I live in Chalfont St Peter

any one interested, please PM me.

Questions:

How do i know who is turming up? I don't

Suppose it was done and at the time i was happy, and paid, then it all fell apart / became obvious it was a cheap job

Instant slagging off, which is no use for the forum.

(the best is last)

What good tradesman will be looking on a diy forum for work?

And DaSpozz, please tell me this is not true

some fair points, do you look on the negative side of everything??? and i never called you joe 90 i said you were doing a joe90

No i was joking about the business card...

But if I put a post on saying i needed a tiler and i got a PM from someone, Id have to be an idiot to just let anyone come round! Naturally id ask if they were professional, and maybe get a refernce from one of their other customers. Same principal as if you go through yellow pages when you think about it. Same risks.

Thanks to both of you then.

You can't tell on a forum

Thank you, and most of the time

and i never called you joe 90 i said you were doing a joe90

only some times, but that wasn't one of them

But you see my points, it would not be a good idea to use this forum to offer your "services" There are sites that do that anyway. but its alleged that they are as much use as a chocolate tea pot

I'm looking for some well endowed female models for a photo shoot i'm doing at home, anyone interested?

Well i'm not impressed so far by this idea as i'm still waiting on replies for models and knowing that there are several female contributors to this forum am disappointed to say the least at the poor takeup of the offer.
