I need to tile a damp wall. What chance?

Hello,

The exterior wall of our bathroom is damp because of faulty guttering and the water running down the wall. I presume this is the reason. Yes I will cure this at some point.

The wall paper inside is stained and peeling and will be removed to reveal a hell of a messy wall behind. Various patch up jobs by previous owners.

We are thinking of selling and need to do something with this wall which is why I thought of tiling. Even though it is damp, is there anyway of overcoming this with tiles and a suitable primer?
