We had an extension built a few years back. As part of the work a new bathroom window was cut in to the outside wall of the house. A small 1ft wide window.
I have been removing the tiling and coving in the bathroom ready for retiling, and I notice that there is a crack developing above the window! ( narrower at the top/ wider at the bottom.)
I would think there are about 2 rows of block work above the window, and the crack is where one of the roofing trusses rests on the wall.
I assume this window should have a lintel?
Maybe the builder didn't put one in! ( the plaster above the window matches the rest of the wall. It hasn't been patched).
Is it a straight forward job to put one in? ( I'll prob get a builder to do it as I have no experience)
