i think i need 20sq mtrs.but quote say i need 38 sq mtrs

hi guys, i am about to remove old paving slabs 2ft x 2ft ( total amount of slabs is 90 ) for a new patio area..and put in their place some new indian stone patio slabs of varying sizes..its basically taking old slabs up and put new ones in place in simple terms,i have quickly worked out that i need approx 20 sq mtrs of new slabs( within a mtr or two)..but i have had a quote from a landscape company.. saying i will need 38 sq mtrs..would that be right ?..what i am trying to say is if i have 90 2' x 2' what does that work out at in sq mtrs..i think 20mtrs approx..the landscaper says 38 mtrs who is closest..me or him ? as i certainly do not want to pay for almost dbl the slabs if i do not need them..and he says he has to supply the slabs and not me order them for myself...many thanks in advance

1" = 2.54cm. Each slab is, therefore, 0.37m². Therefore, 90 * 0.37 = 33.45m².

Yes 33.5m but he/she is probably allowing for cuts and wastage.

Wastage will be 10%, so add an extra 4 and you get 38.
