I have an old laptop an IBM Think Pad R50e, which is still working albeit very very slow.
I am awaiting delivery of a new Apple Mac but want to have my old 'steam driven' laptop as an emergency machine.
Does any one have the instructions on how to reset the IBM Think Pad back to factory settings.

You could try downloading Ubuntu to a usb stick and set the bios to load from usb first. (trust me it will work) When you've seen that it works , you then get the option to either partition the HDD so you can dual boot, or format the HDD and just use Ubuntu as the OS.
Ubuntu will load to desktop within 20 - 30 seconds. Comes with Firefox browser, an email client, Libre Office (which can import and create MS files) You can download Google Chrome browser, if you don't like Firefox. Ubuntu software centre has loads of useful programs.... And the best thing???? It's absolutely free... Yes,,, FREE.
No licences etc to pay for. No installation discs to buy. Almost virus, malware and trojan free (although you can pass Win and Mac viruses, malware etc on to others)
There's excellent support from the thousands of Linux OS users worldwide.

(don't forget to backup or copy your personal files on your lappy before installation though (otherwise you could lose them)
;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
