Afternoon everyone,

I have an ideal combi c30 boiler which has been the bane of my life since it was installed. I used to get constant pressure drops but a sneaky leak in a back cupboard fixed that.

This morning, I turned on the heating for the first time in months and all seemed well until I tried to have a shower and couldn’t get any hot water.

When I run the hot tap in the kitchen, the temperature on the boiler reads between 18 and 21 degrees and never goes any higher. The target temperature is set at 50. I also noticed when the heating was on, it was loud and there seemed to be a bubbling/gurgling sound. There is no error code on the actual screen when on but I did notice when I reset the boiler, a few codes popped up (F9 c, f9 n, f9 30) but then go away soon after.

I’ve tried bleeding all of the radiators and that hasn’t seemed to help. Does anyone know what could be the issue or if there is a quick fix? I’m tired of dealing with the council to get people in with this boiler. I reckon it’s been attended to at least 8 times since it was installed 3 years ago.

Thanks

Does the boiler fire up ( starts burning gas) when you turn a hot tap on ?
I assume it does not ,and you will need an engineer to attend

When I turn the hot tap on, it churns for a little, the temperature on the display goes to 18 degrees then doesn’t move beyond that. When I turn the tap off, there’s a bubbling, gurgling noise. I’m assuming there is air in the system but bleeding the radiators hasn’t fixed it. Going to get an engineer in to hopefully fix it.

Interestingly, when I turn the heating on now, there’s is a flame icon on the display so I’m assuming gas is burning, but that too is now stopping at 18 degrees when the target temp is 60…

Update on this…today when I ran the hot water, the ignition light on the display is coming on and the water is turning hot, then the boiler starts violently and loudly rumbling. Any ideas? It’s not about to explode?!

Condi trap is full/blocked
Thanks for this. Does it pose an immediate risk if I continue using the boiler until it’s fixed? I’m still waiting on an engineer to fix it. Apparently having a 5 month old baby and no hot water/heating isn’t an emergency…

I ran the tap tonight and the violent rumbling has stopped but I can still hear bubbling inside the boiler.
