We have a an Ideal Elan 2, the automatic ignition does not appear to be working, does anyone know if we can light it ourselves...help please, we are without heating and British Gas cant come out until Tuesday!!!!!
WHich model have you got - there's a zillion
Does it have a clonker you push to make a spark?
If so do you get a pilot, which goes out?
Be warned - BG are inclined to suck in through their teeth and tell you the case seals are obsolete so you need a new boiler. Others of us just use general purpose seals and test they work ok ...
Some of the elan2 were electronic the NF range for example I think
A GC number would help to confirm
SUre, some were, I have some manuals.
But folk get confused...
Have you tried the overheat reset button - li'll & terracottoa coloured, just to the right...
are you sure the elan lights automatically ie electronic ignition, or do you mean it usually always lights when you turn the clock on, because the pilot is on, i thought these boilers were old and had pilots, i remember fitting one about 20 years ago for my mum, she doesn't live in the house anymore but it still working, i serviced it for the new owner last year.
