Ideal Logic case rusting. Leak?

Hi,

We've got a six year old Ideal logic heat only boiler and I've noticed the bottom of the case is rusting in one corner. I only noticed this because there was a dirty mark in the cupboard the contains the boiler.

It's dry to the touch, and I don't think we are losing any pressure. The heating works fine.

We have had the boiler serviced every year and no one has said anything.

Should I be worried about this?

Is the condensate trap a sealed unit? I only ask because when the washing machine drains you can hear a loud gurgling from the boiler so could water be bubbling out?

They have noticed, dried it up, then gone away after your "service".

The condensate connection into your trap under sink is wrong.

More likely water being sucked out of the condensate trap, leaving it an open pipe. As said it's not right going into the sink trap. It is considered part of the flue system so it needs looking at by a Registered Gas Installer. You can find a local independent from t'net - Gas Safe site.

It turned out to be a cracked sump. Common problem apparently.

That doesn't explain the gurgling noise. Traps being pulled is a common issue of badly designed drainage, but if it's your boiler trap then there's a big safety issue as flue gases will escape from the boiler.
