I've recently installed an Ideal Logic Plus 18 heat-only boiler in my attached garage.
The manual isn't clear about whether there is an internal frost stat.
I tried ringing Ideal in Hull.
Their customer service really is as dire as I'd read.

The front display on the boiler has "F" as one of its codes. That is the symbol for frost.
This suggests that it must have something to trigger it within the boiler.
I have an external frost stat, but wiring that into the usual switched live would not display "F".
Currently, I haven't wired the external frost stat as I used the cables to feed the circulator, in the tank cupboard, within the house.
Any help welcome, please.

Thanks very much.
That's what I needed.
The installation book quotes that I could install an external frost stat, but I'm only bothered about the tiny heat exchanger, built from aluminium.
I don't want that cracking.

I've had the boiler in use for 3 weeks now.
Vast improvement on my 12-year old Ideal Classic.
You don't get that massive fan, blowing heat out everywhere.
It looks like the new one will be efficient.

Thanks again.

although my prefered make is Vaillant the new Ideal range are very nice boilers and i have fitted many in the last 12 months, Time will tell

Yes, thank you.
The components in the new Ideal look to come from all over Europe.
I bet they've copied the design from Vaillant or similar.

I'm quite shocked by the difference in performance.
It just quietly gets on with the job and really send some heat out.
The gas rate is lower than my old Classic, so it's using much less gas to deliver much more heat.
