Hi everyone, Hope everyone doin gud :)

I am having problem with my boiler at my property. I had BG people come in to have a look and they advised my tennat to have the boiler replaced. It's a conventional boiler with water tanks etc etc. The price they quoted is beyond my pocket range of around £3,000 and that is for combi.

My two main queries

1. Is there anyone on this forum who is an engineer and can visit the property to advise correctly on the situation i.e. repair or replace ?

2. If I have to get the boiler replaced, roughly how much would it cost to get a new boiler with same specs as Ideal Minimiser SE 50? (not combi because not suitable for the property)

The property is based in Leeds LS17 post code.

Appreciate any guidance/reply on above

thanks for looking ta

This is not a price comparison site. Get 2 other quotes from local independants. £2000 is a guide but could be lower.

thanks 45yearsagasman for your reply

I know its not a price comparison site - I just wanted to get an idea from other people experiences and any guide line

The Ideal Minimiser is considered by some to be one of the worst boilers ever produced. Some may even go as far as to suggest that Ideal boilers in general are not fit for purpose. As for me I couldn't possibly comment but I would not be throwing too much money at the Minimiser to keep it going.
A combi would not be necessary and a good quality heat only boiler of around 15kW would probably do quite nicely subject to survey. Something like a Viessmann 100 Compact which comes with a 5 year warranty may be the way to go and should come in at around the 2k mark as 45gasman has suggested.
