As above, hot water tank and central heating both with header tanks in the loft. Indirect cylinder. Boiler was getting very noisy and fan changed.

Boiler been off 2 days waiting for part (we were away), now as we wanted hot water quickly on water only the boiler is cycling. Pump is turning. The input pipes at the hot water tank are hot.

Set to water and heating and the boiler doesn't cycle . . . . will wait half an hour and see if the water is getting hot but any ideas what the issue is?

Three position valve? Blockage in piping to hot water tank - all 20 inches or so of it?

Boiler was not cycling before we went away.

Apologies if I hurt anyone's feelings but wife wanted a bath . . .

It is heating water but slowly, the 3 way valve is moving (from tell tale) and the heating is working but the boiler is noisy.

Added some cleaner this morning (Sentinel 400 as it is 15-16 years old), probably needs another litre as there are about 15 rads. May add the second litre at the weekend after flushing out some radiators and leave it a couple of weeks.

On investigation the return from the hot water tank coil, hidden underpipe insulation since we bought the house, is partly 15mm!

Still open to suggestions from anyone on what the problem might be - I don't believe the boiler is the cause -but as Dan's signature says it might just be stupidity.
