Hi,

the bricklayer was supposed to have done the lower courses in brick, but it was too late by time noticed. How can we finish the wall below the render with an elegant finish? Would a good solution be to attach slip bricks, with adhesive to the breeze block and pointed as usual, lead trim to carry render/drip water over the top? The image shows a tray someone advised to attach the slip bricks to the breeze blocks, but not sure this is the best solution.
We need an elegant and long-lasting finish ie don’t want to paint the breeze blocks black, or take render to the ground and paint black.

thank you!

It depends on how the wall is finished below the render in other parts of the house. You would want to achieve an in keeping finish. If rest of house is bricks then you should probably do it here too. Dock the wages of the project manager to pay for it! It was careless for no one to notice such a fundamental detail!

Hi,

This is a new extension to a Victorian house, and is the only wall with this finish, so there is no precedent as such. Ideally it would be slip bricks, from an aesthetic standpoint, so I should have been more specific with my question:would it work to attach slip bricks with adhesive to the breeze blocks, and mortar as usual? That would be the best outcome.
