Ideas on improving FreeView reception on Laptop

I have a new laptop with a DVB freeview card. The reception is naff at home.

Has anybody got any ideas on improving reception ?

fix a large aerial to your back and plug one end into laptop. or get a patch lead and plug in to house aerial
