Good evening all.

I bought a house recently and I'm now in the process of tackling the garden so as to make it manageable and improve it hopefully. I've got two queries regarding two items growing in my garden.

Item 1

As you can (possibly) see from the photographs, this tree has a wonderful blue flower growing on it but the flowers are very sparse and in the first photograph, you can see many branches but with no flowering on them at all.

I'm looking to increase the volume of flowering on this tree. Any suggestions and also, can anyone tell me what it is? Researching it, I think it could possibly be a Ceanothus?

Item 2

Again, I'm keen to find out what this is so I can research its maintenance myself? I'm keen to cut this back as it's becoming somewhat too large for where it is positioned. A few questions on this one:-
- Can this be cut back with still allowing maximum flowering?
- Can this be easily moved or are the roots far growing?
- What is it?

Many thanks in advance all

first one is a type of ceanothus-only prune into green wood and not old wood..cant say it looks like it needs pruning.

the other is a type of camellia but you have an aucuba growing in front with the spotted glossy foliage.
