The house I bought five years ago has ten small downlights (LED I think) set into some boxing in the kitchen. I don't use them but that's because I find the colour temperature too cold. If I could replace the lamps with warm white ones, I'd be happy. But how to replace? They don't seem to unscrew and don't seem amenable to being levered out. If anyone can recognise and advise on how to re-lamp, I'd be grateful. The fittings are 30mm diameter and look as though they will fit into a 25mm hole.

If you're lucky they're GU10 bulbs. Sometimes a small suction cup helps to get them out.
If they seem incredibly tight and won't budge, then you're unlucky and they're fixed units where the bulb cannot be replaced.

GU10 is the connector, as is G5.3, the popular downlight is a MR16 compatible, MR stands for multifaceted reflector which is why I say compatible as LED's seldom have a reflector, and the 16 is 16 x 1/8 of an inch, so 2 inches. There is an MR11 and MR8 in the main, they are extra low voltage, so you may be better converting to MR16 or GU10 so you can get the colour temperature you want.

Most have springs to keep them in place

as seen here, so the unit simply pulls out, but those springs can damage the plaster.

I have recently replaced very similar ones. My guess is MR 11. I bought these in 3000k. As others mentioned, the fitting is held by clips and it should be plug and play, just pull down (Watch fingers for snap recoil) and attach new ones.
