it's both i think. 23x optical and 4 times digital. 23x4 = 92

if you have an android phone, i can recommend the Google Sky app.
Just hold your phone towards where you're looking, and all of the stars, planets, etc are displayed as you ought to see them. Very cool use of tech :)

You don't really need anything to spot Jupiter in the night sky at the moment. It really is the brightest source of light (apart from the moon ) ;) ;) ;)

For anyone who is interested in astronomy, google the website heavens-above

Find your location on the map and select your timezone. It then gives you the exact times to the second of when and where to look for for things like iridium flares or the international space station.

Then really its effectively 23x zoom. Digital zoom is a waste of time, it doesn't actully zoom on the real image, it takes the 23x magnified image and zooms on that, hence the quality deteriorates.

That's nothing..........if you look off the shoulder of Orion, over towards the Tannhauser Gate you might if you're lucky see some C beams.

Just used the Star Walk app on the ipad......its a bit cloudy down here but a great help for locating where everything is .
