Hi, hoping someone might be able to confirm my suspicion about the electrode from my gas combi.

There is some blackening on the white sleeve.

The following symptoms apply for either CH or DHW demand.

The "flame on" lights up green but within a few seconds goes off and the "ignition failed" warning lights come on and this is then followed by "Flame cut off" warning lights.
If I turn off the heating or hot water demand the warning lights finish their flashing sequence and the boiler returns to normal ON. If the demand isn't turned off then the boiler continues with "Flame cut off" and then goes to "Lock Out" and has to be reset but the same malfunction persists.
Is it possible to tell from the image if the electrode is in fact faulty. I'm aware there are various reasons for this kind of boiler failure but this might be a part of the problem.

Boiler is Ariston e-combi 38 (GCN 47 116 64)

Many thanks, Bob.

Sorry we don’t allow in depth boiler matters such as this to be discussed on the forum. I agree with the posters that advise you to get a professional gas fitter in

Sorry chief, this is a step away from the toolbox moment and get someone in.

As you point out, ignition faults can be wide and varied. They are also indicative of some more serious issues.

Honestly, time to phone someone with the right tools to check the problem out.

The symptom you describe is typical of reversed polarity on Italian boilers (live and neutral the wrong way around) the boiler will not rectify if this is the case, a lot more common than you would think, seeing a few with smart meters being fitted or someone doing something electrical somewhere in the house

Understand what you're suggesting. There hasn't been any such work undertaken for many years.
Thanks, Bob.

What's you gonna do with that disturbed gasket....you do realise you've got 1000 degree combustion products just waiting to leak out and destroy the boiler.
You know the forum rules especially when you have a history of delving into combustion issues.
No more advice to be given please...

except to say stop meddling with the boiler, turn the gas tap to OFF and call a competent GasSafe registered technician who is experienced with this type of boilersay
bernard,do you still have your Johnson& scarey wet boiler :?:

Yes I do, why do you ask ?
asking as have you been told or worked out who actually manufactures the majority of the parts inside the wall mounted box.

It is in your favour

bernard,we all know you want a combination gas boiler (y) seen many in your hamlet of a village :ROFLMAO:
