Hi, my top plastic box doesn’t have a hole and I am struggling to fix this to ceiling. This keeps falling and won’t fix to the ceiling. Appreciate if someone could help.
three pictures attached for reference. Thank you.
Sometimes you can just pull lightly on the flex, and tighten that nut directly under the cup as the cup is held against the ceiling.
Usually it then moves, looks a bit wonky, and gets left like that till it gets worse.
It doesn't help with all that flex in the cup. If I don't want to shorten the flex, I usually push a loop of all the slack into the ceiling void, if there is one.
Another solution is ditch the cup and the hook, shorten the flex, and just use the original complete ceiling rose.
I am ok to cut the wire but still don’t know how I could fix this white top as this stays loose. The screw underneath doesn’t really tighten this - or at least I don’t know how I could fix properly.
not fitted one personally but it looks like the threaded portion locks into the cup when by twisting it slightly(the nibs on the corners look like they jam in a squarish portion) then the knurled nut holds to the threaded bit keeping it jammed in the upper bit and also closing the cable grip round the cable. it also looks like you could gain a bit more space inside the cup by using the original ceiling rose as the connection rather than the one fixed to the cable hanging loop
