I only have hot water when the CH is on. I think it is the diaphragm in the diverter valve or the micro switch. Is it a complecated job to replce these parts?
it is an absolute sod. Experienced heating engineers will struggle with this job. If you want to diy it, then good luck and I can give you a few basic pointers ! Personally I think the best thing you can do is phone Glowworm and get a fixed price repair. For someone who's done a few its still a 1.5-2hr job. Oh and you'll need to buy the whole valve as diaphragm isn't sold seperately, but with all the hassle its probably not a bad idea.
I will say, it is possible to change the diaphragm in situ...BUT its very very tricky, and I wouldn't recommend it to many people.
I fully agree with Mickyg!!!
Due to the very poor layout of the components the IKON does not lend itself to ease of maintenance I have had to remove the boiler from the wall on a couple of occasions due to lack of space each side of the boiler
this should be undertaken by a gas registered engineer only!!
There is a repair kit G-worm S403000011 £ 45.00 ish or replacement valve + Giannoni divertor valve Protherm type S021002478, Jaguar, IKon GC E27163 £ 170.00 ish
As the alternative fit a Jaguar, you might be lucky and the diaphragm only will fit (I have not tried it) but first you must get out the old to see. It is possible to get the head off with a complete struggle I agree. Or better still get the valve out still a struggle. Dont forget to get any washers, o-rings needed.
