imersion heater timer

hi
got a diehl 884 timer
but confused on the wiring of,
looking to use it on my aquarium for the lights
pins 3 & 5 persume for live wire to lights
but unsure of 1 & 2, what does the M stand for?

M is the motor that drives the wheels of the clock.

Only in this model the "motor" is the electronic clock "Mechanism" so the terminals 1 and 2 will require power fed to them.

Probably this will be 230 volts AC but check the data sheet that came with the unit. It should matter which is Live and which is neutral.

A tidy way to wire it is

Neutral on 1

Live on 2 and 3

Switched live from 5

You will need a fuse in the supply to the Motor

Unless the lamps are massive a 2 amp fuse will suffice ( 400 watts of lighting )
