immersion query...

I just moved into a new house. I switched on the immersion and left it for a while to heat the water for a bath. However the water never heated up. THis has got me a bit worried as I assumed that the tank couldnt possibly be empty? If it is chances are I've bodged the immersion right?

Do you have access to any electrical test equipment? If so can you test to make sure there is actually power getting to the immersion heater?

Tank can only be empty if someone has drained it through the cock on the bottom of the ****ed pipe in the L.H. side of photo.....and it`s unlikely to have been done in the summer Chances are it`s worn/broken and needs replacing ...Where in UK

@RF Lighting: No testing gear available at the moment.
@Nige F: Its a new house so the cylinder/immersion shouldbe new...then again maybe not. I'm in Ireland (West of).

Ah....Newbuild as opposed to new to you though maybe both....good luck anyway

Got on to builder and he got the sparks round today - turned out to be a dead 'stat.
