I have a problem with condensation in my loft which is not helped by the fact all my uptairs lighting is by recessed halogen lighting (GU10s). My question is how much space do I need to leave round them when cheking the insulation. Lighting is 35 & 50 watt and I don't want to risk problems with overheating by surrouding them with insulation. I think I have a good idea from other comments/tips on this site what to do about the insulation just need some guidance on how to handle the lighting.

I should add that I want to board the loft so I can use it as a storage area.

One thing is for sure, you do not need FIRE HOODS. Since there is no habitable space above.

The cover DJM linked to will be fine, but you could make your own out of plasterboard glued together.
