I posted this last year, but in the General DIY section. My defence is that at the time this dedicated Flooring & Stairs forum didn't exist, so please don't anybody embarrass me by checking the dates and saying "Oh yes it did".

Masona gave me a helpful reply (thanks), but it was the only suggestion, so I thought I'd post it again here to see if I get any more ideas given to me.

Does anybody know where to find, or how to identify, decent quality T&G floorbards (i.e. not chipboard panels)?

Ones that won't warp, twist, bend and cup?

My experience of the ones sold in places like Bodgit and Quickjob are that even if they're OK in the store, after you've had them indoors for a few days, they start to warp etc.

Does anybody make decent ones these days? Appearance doesn't matter, as they won't be on display, but I would like to not have troughs and ridges in my floor.

Is it as simple as everything else - i.e. the sheds are full of rubbish, and simply going to a proper builder's or timber merchant will do the trick, or is it harder than that to get anything decent?

I think if I remember rightly we was talking about Solid Bordeaux Flooring from Wickes . My lounge flooring is now approx over 2 years old and it's still very flat.

There is, but the downside would be the cost, like solid oak, Ash, Elm etc...
Hardwood very rarely warp/twist because the number of cells compare to softwood.
