I was looking at immersion heaters this evening in B&Q the plumbing section, which to be fair was very good. It is very advanced nowadays. But anyway, I saw INCALOY Immersion Heaters which were an extra 10pounds on top of normal immersion heaters. 27ounds instead of 17! What exactly are these and are they worth the exgtra money? Are they longer ladting??!!!! Thanks all for your help!!

Yes they resist corrosion better so last longer.

oh thanks - just wanted to make sure! worth the investment then i guess as i live in west london which is known as a hard water area!!

Incaloy elements cost very little more than a standard element. B&Q are just ripping off the public in charging such a high premium. In fact in my experience Incaloy elements don't last much longer than standard elements with London water. I've changed many after just a couple of years. Pesonally I would use a Titanium element...you should be able to get then for less than £50.00. I think the Heatre Sadia elements are guranteed for 5 years.

is that a solid titanium sheath round the element?

I wonder how they bend it to shape
