We have an Indesit DIF04 integrated dishwasher with a couple of issues . One thing we have hopefully solved, but the other we hope someone can help with
We heard a bit of a crash in the kitchen and found the door had flipped down, open. A bit of googling identified that the door catch had broken (confirmed by finding a small broken spring) That bit is hopefully sorted, part ordered, looked at replacement video on youtube etc, however....
The door now feels very heavy, and does not open slowly (it would just drop down open if we did not support it), so we investigate this too. One of the hinge springs has become unhooked from the hinge. It doesnt appear broken (comparing it to the other side) just unhooked.
Big problem is, how do we get it reattached? I have looked at lots of youtube videos and they all seem to show spring replacements which involve stretching the spring and hooking it back up, (often involving some cables too). This model is different, there are no cables, and the spring needs to be 'compressed' rather than 'stretched' in order to attach it to the hinge! We have tried but don't seem to have the proper leverage, and assume there must be a sensible way of doing it without loosing all the skin on my knuckles lol
Anyone come across this kind of hinge/spring, and can you give me any guidance please?
TIA x x
